Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is the most important aspect to ensuring your health and safety, as well as of our employees and residents, and it’s our top priority in St. Anton am Arlberg. Reducing the risk of infection is the personal responsibility of every person who works, lives or spends a holiday in the region. So we urge everyone to respect and follow all the measures and safety recommendations in force, and in doing so, you’ll be making an invaluable contribution to everyone’s safety.
The most important rules to follow:
- Mouth and nose protectors are mandatory in most indoor areas and on public transport
- Wash your hands several times a day
- Refrain from shaking hands when greeting people
- Sneeze or cough into the crook of your arm or into a handkerchief
- Pay for goods and services contactless wherever possible
Testing for Covid-19: A number of options for Guests
Our guests are offered regular, fast and uncomplicated tests in many local tourist establishments.
The easiest, free on-site option is to collect the self-test kit and the relevant information from your hosts. These unsupervised tests are valid for 24 hours and the result must be uploaded - using a QR code – on the State of Tyrol’s website extern. Information can be found at tirol.gv.at extern.
In addition, larger (authorized) establishments offer a free quick test under supervision, which is valid for 24 hours. A link to download the testing result will be sent to your mobile device after approx. 15 minutes. Please ask your host whether these test options are offered.
Antigen and PCR tests are also offered by local doctors and the pharmacy extern. The tests at doctors and pharmacies are subject to charge.
There is also the option of performing a free antigen test on the official Covid-19 Testing roads extern of the State of Tyrol.

Cancellations
Taking out comprehensive travel insurance is particularly recommended. One option is the ‘European Travel Insurance’, which currently covers Covid-19 disease. More information is available on: europaeische.at extern.
Public Transport
Our regional bus service has developed over the years and offers quick and easy access to the ski and hiking area. In addition to hygiene measures and the mandatory wearing of a mouth and nose protector, other regulations have been introduced, especially in the areas around bus stops and during travel. For example, the maximum number of passengers on village buses is now greatly reduced. But if it becomes necessary, we will increase the frequency and number of village buses in service to try and limit the inconvenience to you.
These measures provide safe and efficient transport to and from the ski and hiking area, so we’d ask for your understanding should any delays occur. We’ve also worked intensively on a management scheme for car and bus parking spaces. At the East and West Bus Terminals, passenger traffic is managed by an active visitor flow control. Contact-Tracing
The rapid tracing of an identified COVID 19 outbreak is very important. The registration of visitors to Tirolean restaurants is mandatory, and the region of St. Anton am Arlberg ensures this registration takes place in compliance with data protection regulations.
In this context, we strongly recommend you download the ‘Stopp Corona-App’ of the Austrian Federal Government and the Austrian Red Cross, to enable contact tracing outside of individual companies’ own tracing methods.
SAFE SERVICE
Safe hospitality comes first, which is why the Tirolean Chamber of Commerce (Tourism and Leisure Industry Division) launched the SAFE SERVICE extern initiative. It enables our companies to clearly demonstrate their employees are trained in matters of legal regulations, necessary measures and the correct handling of these. Targeted further and advanced training ensures that employees of Safe Hospitality are always up to date. Certification as a Safe Service company only takes place after proof of the required knowledge. St. Anton am Arlberg Tourist Association has been SAFE SERVICE certified since October 2020.
Test Programme for Employees
Last summer, the Federal Government launched its ‘Safe Hospitality – Test Offer Tourism’ initiative. This allows employees of hotels and guesthouses; campsites; and restaurants, cafes and bars to be voluntarily tested on a regular basis. The region of St. Anton am Arlberg actively participates in this initiative.

Recreation in Nature
St. Anton am Arlberg is the heart of the largest connected ski area in Austria. In addition guests will also find an extensive network of cross-country ski trails and winter hiking trails in the region. And especially this winter, when more than ever, we need to get out in the fresh air and spend relaxing time in the snow-covered landscape, surrounded by this unique and beautiful alpine world. As soon as the situation allows, we look forward to welcoming our guests again with the usual warmth and the unique hospitality of the region. Thanks to the measures, you can enjoy a beautiful and unforgettable vacation in the St. Anton am Arlberg region. The development of these guidelines is an ongoing process, which we’ll regularly keep you posted about. The other legal regulations of the Federal Government also play a decisive role in this process, and we will, of course, inform you of those as and when they come through to us.
