Covid19 – Safety measures
This page will be updated regularly. Subject to change without notice.
Winter sports are possible, as well as hotels and restaurants are again open in the "cradle of alpine skiing". The holiday region of St. Anton am Arlberg once again welcomes winter sports enthusiasts of all kind. The ski area, hotels and restaurants can only be accessed with proof of valid 2G certificate (vaccinated or recovered | there is a special regulation for children aged 12-15). In Austria, it’s mandatory to wear FFP2 mask in all indoor areas.
Regardless of the currently applicable federal regulations (mask requirement within a distance of 2m, etc.) on public streets and outdoor places, the Landeck district administration has now imposed a stricter FFP2 mask requirement for our municipality. This stricter FFP2 mask requirement applies to all heavily frequented public areas in St. Anton am Arlberg [ see map ].
At the respective entrances to these different areas you'll find public notice boards to inform you of the new requirements. This regulation in force is monitored by the police and, if necessary, sanctioned.

Personal responsibility is the most important aspect to ensuring your health and safety, as well as of our employees and residents, and it’s our top priority in St. Anton am Arlberg. Reducing the risk of infection is the personal responsibility of every person who works, lives or spends a holiday in the region. So we urge everyone to respect and follow all the measures and safety recommendations in force, and in doing so, you’ll be making an invaluable contribution to everyone’s safety.
Accommodation, Restaurants and Night Clubs
Overall, the regulations on safe hospitality will apply to all accommodation providers as well as restaurants and bars -incl. Après-Ski- once we exit the national lockdown. Further information (in German): Sicheren Gastfreundschaft
Taking out comprehensive travel insurance is particularly recommended. One option is the ‘European Travel Insurance’, which currently covers Covid-19 disease. More information is available on: europaeische.at .
The rapid tracing of an identified COVID 19 outbreak is very important. The registration of visitors to Tirolean restaurants is mandatory, and the region of St. Anton am Arlberg ensures this registration takes place in compliance with data protection regulations.
In this context, we strongly recommend you download the ‘Stopp Corona-App ’ of the Austrian Federal Government and the Austrian Red Cross, to enable contact tracing outside of individual companies’ own tracing methods.
Safe hospitality comes first, which is why the Tirolean Chamber of Commerce (Tourism and Leisure Industry Division) launched the SAFE SERVICE initiative. It enables our companies to clearly demonstrate their employees are trained in matters of legal regulations, necessary measures and the correct handling of these. Targeted further and advanced training ensures that employees of Safe Hospitality are always up to date. Certification as a Safe Service company only takes place after proof of the required knowledge. St. Anton am Arlberg Tourist Association has been SAFE SERVICE certified since October 2020.
Despite the already available PCR gargle tests (throat flush tests) offered in Spar and M-Preis branches, we have decided to ensure a further test option for PCR and antigen tests a new Test Centre in the Arlbergsaal - operated by the Arlberg pharmacy. With this test centre we want to make testing as easy, quick and uncomplicated as possible for our guests, employees and locals.
The test centre is currently open daily* from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking spaces are available directly at the Arlbergsaal. Basically, availabilities are set up in such a way that testing (PCR & antigen test) should be possible without registration or long waiting times.
The antigen and PCR tests are free of charge for people who have an Austrian social security number. It is important that the person to be tested must present ID and an e-card (social security number) during the test.
For people who don't hold an Austrian social security number, the costs are as follows: Antigen test EUR 35 and PCR test EUR 65. Please note that only card payments are accepted at the Test Centre. PCR test results are available within maximum 24 hours.
