Catch me if you can - The Race

28 November 2019

A new “giant slalom race for all” has been created with the “Catch me if you can” event, in which 222 participants compete against each other and the clock.

As in the case of “The White Thrill”, numbers are limited. The athletes commence their journey upwards in mystical ambience with the Galzigbahn cable car at 17 hrs, where competitors start at one-minute intervals in teams of two directly from the mountain terminal of the Valluga cable car. After a short ascent on skis, the athletes duel it out over a 5km long giant slalom course in the darkness. Headlamps are used, so racers don’t lose their orientation entirely. The giant-slalom courses are parallel in parts and even merge at several sections. There are no restrictions, however, to where competitors can overtake. Whoever manages to beat not only their direct opponent but also the best overall time, will be celebrated as the winner of this event’s premiere.  The fastest and slowest teams will also be fêted in special style. Spectators are expected to flock to the finish line, where they will wait to welcome the finishers with rapturous applause. DJ In-style is also on hand to provide some tunes after this incredible sporting challenge, followed by an after-party and prize-giving ceremony at Arlberg WellCom.

The entry fee costs € 59 and includes the lift pass. “Whether the first ski races at the turn of the century, the first Arlberg Kandahar Race, or the famous skiing films - St. Anton am Arlberg has always embodied the superlative. We want to continue to do justice to our reputation and offer participating athletes an extraordinary competition,” says Organising Committee Chief, Peter Mall.

The online registration for the ski race starts on September 01st, 2019. The participation fee amounts to € 59.00. If the valid season ticket (winter season 2019/20) of the participant is shown at the starting number issue, the lift ticket fee of € 9.00 (included in the entry fee) will be refunded.
