arriving on the eve of the grand season opening will be able to witness
one of the many quaint traditions in St. Anton am Arlberg. Young lads
in terrifying costumes accompany St. Nicholas through the streets of St.
Anton on the 5th December: The Krampalar, as they are known as
in Arlberg, wear fearsome carved masks and a so-called Devil’s skin. No
need to worry, though, because underneath their evil disguise they’re
really quite harmless and friendly. The Krampus Devil’s Run in St. Anton
am Arlberg is a Tyrolean custom that really has to be seen to be
believed and shouldn’t be missed.

On January 18th, the FIS World Snow Day
takes place in St. Anton am Arlberg. Whilst a key role of FIS is to
organise a structure of international competitions through to the
highest levels, it is also committed to the global promotion and
development of recreational skiing and snowboarding. This event is aimed
at children aged 4-14, introduce them to winter sports recreation on
snow and of course a time to have fun in and on the snow.

The triathlon consists of a 41-kilometre mountain bike race (Mountainbike-Marathon 22.8.2015), a half marathon in July (Jakobilauf 25.7.2015) and the cult ski race "Weißer Rausch" -The White Thrill- in April (18.4.2015).
