Some bitter cold days are expected, as between a high-pressure area in the north of the Alps and a low-pressure area over Italy continental cold air from Siberia will reach us with a partly lively, partly strong easterly wind. The risk for low stratus over the valleys will continue on. From time to time the deep, low-stratus clouds may become more compact and bring weak snowfalls. In the bases of the valleys the sun will remain a rare guest. In the mountains the chances for longer sunny spells will be good, as dry and icy cold air masses will prevail. The cold temperatures will be intensified by the wind.
